I've been writing all of my life, transferring my thoughts into words, whether by keeping a journal or by creating imaginary characters who came alive on paper. It was my youth's private journey. Writing is one of the ways I make sense of life.

In my freshman year of high school I wrote an essay, "We Are the Gods of Our Pets." I discovered that an affectionate bond exists between our pets and our selves that transcends every emotion with no limit to its dedication or devotion.

I didn't know then that there was a deeper and more emotional meaning hidden in my subconscious that would be discovered years later during a therapy session.

While attending college, one of my professors, Dr. Holsinger encouraged me to use my imagination by writing each day. She would say, "Stuart, don't let the day go by without putting your thoughts on paper in a new and imaginative way. If a musician must practice each day to perfect a skill, so must you."

I suppose you could say that my journey as a writer began seriously on that day. I wrote short stories, mysteries, comedies, speeches, and poems. I wrote about my parents, friends, teachers, and most importantly, my feelings, my deepest, most private feelings.  

The idea for this story began eight years ago when we took our companion to Europe. Spending the summer traveling throughout the cities, villages of Italy, Germany, France and Spain with our small fluffy dog added an additional level of adventure. Having a canine that is constantly attracting attention is like having a movie star traveling with you. People in every country wanted to come close, to ask questions, and to touch her.

This is a love story about a dog with the extraordinary powers of communication, the man who shares her world, and a lost love.

By a twist of fate, the dog enters the lives of the rich and famous, the criminal and the redeemed where she learns their scandals and deepest secrets in parts of Paris few people know exits. Through her, the lives of all those she has touched are changed.
